PSA and (another) Free Template :)

ok ladies... this is my public service announcement to everyone reading.... BACK UP RIGHT NOW!!!! you just never know when something might happen! Sadly I've been feeling like it was time to back up again (I *try* to do it once a month -- although I should really be doing it weekly!)... case in point... my hard drive crashed as well as 2 memory sticks (whatever those are - hee hee). The good news is that it was still under the extended warranty we purchased... the sad news -- the warranty didn't cover any data recovery.... HELLO! I need my goods! So... I had to pay to get all of the data retrieved ($69 well spent!). So.. don't put it off any longer and GO BACK UP! ok... I've done my good deed to the digital community.
So it's been almost a week that we *moved* into our new house... I'm feeling quite good about my productivity this week :) oh, and just have to say -- even though we are still somewhat living out of boxes... I have 2 rooms painted!! Yep.. I have my priorities straight - LOL. I want to take some pics and show you guys but my dh has hidden (ok.. he put them in a *safe* place and can't find the batteries)... so guess the pics will have to wait for another day. (plus, I'll need to post a pic of the couch set you guys helped fund with last months sales :) -- everytime I see them I think - awww.. my peeps bought these for me! seriously.

    I don't mind telling you how lucky you are with your hard drive crash. Mine crashed about a month ago and it will cost me hundreds of dollars to save my stuff. That would be all my digiscrapping stuff and all my layouts. Backing up is essential. This is a fab template and I see it being used very quickly. :)

    OMG! Where did you manage to get your data restored for $69?!?! I had a HD die last year (luckily not the one my scrap supplies were stored on), but I couldn't find anywhere to have the data on it recovered for less that a couple hundred bucks! Please share! (if you have the time I'd love it if you could email me some help at stepfh@hotmail.com Thank you, thank you!)

    Great template, thanks for sharing.

    I had a different hard drive problem--when we sent my laptop in to be fixed (and this was a problem *completely* unrelated to the hard drive), they decided to replace the hard drive AND DESTROYED THE OLD ONE. Fortunately I had everything on another drive, but if I hadn't, I'd be even more upset with them than I am now. So yes, the reminder to back up files is certainly a good one!

    Glad to hear your priorities are straight in painting those rooms. We've been here 2 1/2 years and still haven't made it around to painting...how do you do it?!

    Unfortunately, your PSA came a little too late for me. :( I lost the last several years of photos and scrapping supplies because the BACKup harddrive failed, as well as the original one. I haven't been able to keep up with burning CDs. :( I was hopeful that we were going to be able to recover the data, but it's looking like that's not going to be possible. We were able to "recover" files onto another HD, but when I try to access them, it gets hung up and fails. I'm heartbroken, especially about the photos.
